US entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular programs like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per news outlets.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his family said in a announcement.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
An Extensive Television Career
Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He starred as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a party host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on several popular shows, including:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House
He was most recognized for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits are It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.
He was involved with a six-member improv team named "Beer Shark Mice".
"He taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.
Paying homage, peer Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared online.
