Salah Extends Regret to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the uproar from his public comments.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following voicing frustrations and stating his relationship with manager had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
The midfielder also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “I understand there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
The team's performance have been impressive in the period after the initial controversy. The player is convinced the outburst were not intended to harm the team.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a good place,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, playing well and on a positive run.”
